Our Mission
SCORE Boston Hockey provides youth, from ages 5 – 14, the opportunity to participate in the sport of ice hockey and inspiration to see their future differently. Our mission is to improve the outcomes for children in the city of Boston and the surrounding communities by using ice hockey as a platform to highlight the importance of education, teach life lessons around perseverance, teamwork, overcoming adversity, and foster an environment of tolerance and respect for others.
SCORE's commitment to the children in our program is reflective in our name:
Sportsmanship
Character
Opportunity
Respect
Education
Many of our participants come from challenging environments and under resourced communities. We hope every child realizes that the world is full of opportunities and their horizon is not limited by their current circumstances. We do not measure the success of our program in goals, assists, wins, losses or scholarships. Instead, we focus on giving the children in our program the opportunity to build life long friendships, develop confidence, dream big and be exposed to experiences that help create new pathways for success.
Through our program we strive to empower our participants to:
Wake up everyday knowing that whatever they want in life they can have. Each child owns their success.
Challenge themselves, and fail at times, but that in the end overcome adversity and accomplish something difficult.
Know that they do not need permission to accomplish their goals.
Develop a community and network of people that support them and can help them see their future differently.
